Opus Clip’s free plan puts a watermark on your clips. So we checked four alternatives on their own pricing pages: Submagic, Vizard, Klap and Descript. First, Opus Clip itself. The free plan gives you sixty credits a month, but clips carry a watermark, and you can’t export them after three days. Starter is fifteen dollars a month, monthly only. Klap says no watermark on any plan, even free. The catch? The free plan is just one video. Basic is fourteen dollars a month, billed yearly. On Opus Clip and Vizard, one credit is one minute of your original video. So a one-hour podcast uses the whole free month. Submagic Starter is twelve dollars a month, billed yearly, with no watermark on paid plans. But its limits are built for short videos. Descript is a full editor with a Create Clips tool. Hobbyist is sixteen dollars a month, billed yearly. We could not confirm Vizard’s paid prices, so check its pricing page before you buy. So, want free and clean? Try Klap first. Already edit in Descript? Use its clip tool. Want the most clip features? Look at Opus Clip Pro. We haven’t tested clip quality yet. Prices were checked on October twenty-second. The full comparison is on AI News.

Key takeaways

Verdict

If you want an Opus Clip alternative, start with three questions. Is there a free plan? Does it put a watermark on your clips? And how far do the minutes or credits go? We read the pricing pages of Opus Clip, Submagic, Vizard, Klap and Descript on 22 October 2026 and put the answers side by side.

  • Free with no watermark: Klap says its clips have “No watermarks, ever”, including on the free plan. But the free plan is only one video.
  • Opus Clip’s free plan has a watermark, and free clips can’t be exported after 3 days.
  • Cheapest paid plans we could confirm: Submagic Starter at $12 a month billed yearly, Klap Basic at $14 a month billed yearly, and Opus Clip Starter at $15 a month (monthly only). All checked 22 Oct 2026.
  • Already edit long videos? Descript is a full editor with a “Create Clips” AI tool. It suits podcasters who edit there anyway.
  • We don’t name one winner. We haven’t tested output quality yet.

All prices in this comparison are in US dollars (USD), as shown on each tool’s own site. Some tools may show other currencies or local prices depending on where you are, so check the page from your country.

What we checked

  • Read the pricing page of all five tools on 22 Oct 2026 (Opus Clip, Submagic, Vizard, Klap, Descript)
  • Noted each free plan, its watermark wording and its limits
  • Noted the cheapest paid plan and whether it's billed monthly or yearly
  • Read each tool's help pages on how credits or minutes are counted
  • Not done yet: a hands-on test of clip quality

What we checked, and what we haven’t tested yet

We checked plans, prices, limits and watermark wording on each tool’s own site on 22 October 2026 (the list under the table). We have not run a hands-on test. Before we add any verdict on quality, we plan to:

  1. Upload the same 30 to 60 minute talking-head video to each free plan or trial.
  2. Note the credits or minutes used, the number of clips, the export resolution and any watermark.
  3. Check the captions on three random clips.
  4. Check how each tool frames a two-person shot.
  5. Note the time to the first clip.

Until then, treat this as a plan-by-plan guide, not a review.

Pros and cons of each tool

These come from the vendors’ own pages. They are not quality claims.

Opus Clip

  • Pros: a free plan with 60 credits a month. On Pro, “Unused credits roll over for 2 months”, and you can export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci. Paid plans add a virality score. (Opus Clip pricing)
  • Cons: the free plan has a watermark, and free clips can’t be exported after 3 days. Starter is monthly only.

Submagic

  • Pros: every listed paid plan says “No watermark”, and there’s a yearly discount. (Submagic pricing)
  • Cons: the plan limits are written for short videos (2-minute video length on Starter). Its long-to-short Magic Clips page says you can export “without any watermark”, but it doesn’t list plan limits for Magic Clips.

Vizard

  • Pros: a free plan with 60 credits a month, and “1 credit = 1 minute of video processed”, which is easy to plan around (Vizard Help). The paid Creator plan exports in 4K.
  • Cons: the free plan exports at 720p, caps export length at 10 minutes and keeps files for 3 days. We couldn’t confirm Vizard’s paid prices, so they’re unconfirmed here. Please check Vizard’s pricing page before you buy.

Klap

  • Pros: no watermark on any plan, you “Only pay for clips you generate”, and it lists 52 languages and videos up to 4 hours. (Klap pricing, AI Clip Maker)
  • Cons: the free plan is only one video. Klap’s own pages showed two different prices for the Pro plan on 22 October, so the Pro price is unconfirmed. We couldn’t see monthly-billing prices either. Check klap.app/pricing before you pay.

Descript

  • Pros: a full text-based editor with AI tools such as Create Clips, Remove Filler Words and Studio Sound. A free plan, and 4K export on Creator. (Descript pricing)
  • Cons: it isn’t a dedicated clipper. Free export is 720p, and usage is split between media hours and AI credits.

Pricing and limits compared

All prices are in US dollars (USD), as shown on each official page, checked 22 October 2026. “Billed yearly” means you pay for 12 months up front; the monthly figure is that total divided by 12. The source for each row is in the last column. Prices change, so check before you buy.

Credits, clips and media hours, in plain words

  • Opus Clip charges 1 credit per minute of the original video you import. A 30-minute video uses 30 credits. On monthly plans, credits expire after 60 days; on yearly plans they last 12 months. (Opus Clip Help)
  • Vizard works the same way: 1 credit is 1 minute of video.
  • Klap counts the clips it makes for you, not the minutes you upload.
  • Submagic counts credits per video (45 credits = 15 videos on Starter).
  • Descript gives you media hours plus a separate pot of AI credits.

How far does one 60-minute video go?

This is simple arithmetic, not a test. One 60-minute video uses 60 credits on Opus Clip. That is the whole free month. On Vizard it’s also 60 credits, the whole free month. On Descript Hobbyist it’s 1 of your 10 media hours.

Who it's for

Which Opus Clip alternative should you pick?

  • Solo YouTuber on a tight budget: start with Klap’s free video to see clean, watermark-free clips. If you like it, Basic is $14 a month billed yearly.
  • Podcaster who already edits in Descript: try its Create Clips tool before you pay for a second app.
  • Team that wants the most clip features: look at Opus Clip Pro, with credit rollover, 2 seats and Premiere Pro or DaVinci export.
  • Mostly short videos that need captions: Submagic’s plans are built around short videos, with no watermark on paid plans.

A clipping tool only makes the clips. If you want each clip posted for you, with your approval, you can post your clips to 15+ places on autopilot with AIFix Creator Autopilot. That’s our own service.

Other tools people search for

Google also suggests CapCut, Riverside and Eklipse (in English-language searches) when people look for Opus Clip alternatives. We haven’t looked at their plans for this piece, so we only mention them here.
