The short answer

Kling has a free plan, but we can’t confirm that Kling 4.0 is part of it. Kling’s own pricing FAQ says it offers “free access to selected creation features for eligible accounts”, with limited credits, models and editing options. It adds that “advanced editing features, higher resolutions, and watermark-free downloads may require a paid membership”. It doesn’t say which model versions the free access covers. We read Kling’s pages on 28 October 2026. All prices are in US dollars.

  • Free to try: yes, for selected features, with limits. (Kling pricing FAQ)
  • Free for Kling 4.0: unconfirmed. Kling’s public pages don’t say.
  • Free without a watermark: no. Watermark removal is one of the premium-only functions on Kling’s Credits Policy page.
  • Free for client or channel work: a third-party report says the free plan doesn’t allow commercial use. Check Kling’s terms before you post anything made on it.

Research-based guide. We haven’t signed in and made a Kling 4.0 clip. Everything below comes from Kling’s own pages and one clearly labelled third-party report, checked 28 October 2026. Cost note: Kling 4.0 may cost credits or a paid plan; we couldn’t confirm either way.

What Kling says about free access

Two Kling pages answer part of the question.

  1. The pricing FAQ. “Is Kling AI Video Editor free?” gets a “Yes” with limits: selected creation features, for eligible accounts, with limited credits, models and editing options. Higher resolutions and watermark-free downloads “may require a paid membership”.
  2. The Credits Policy. It says credits are only needed for specific functions, and that “Fast-track generation, 1080p videos, Watermark removal, Master shot & video extension, Image upscaling are premium-only functions”. Credits you buy don’t unlock those. (Credits Policy)

What the free plan lacks, per a third-party report

Kling’s plan page needs JavaScript, so we couldn’t read it with our free tools. The software company Voyager says it read the page signed out on 20 October 2026. Treat these points as reported, not confirmed by us:

  • The free Basic plan lists no monthly credits in the plan table, adds a watermark, and has no commercial use.
  • Basic has no 1080p, no 4K, no video extension and no watermark removal, and allows one video per request.
  • Standard costs $8.80 a month (first month $6.99). Pro costs $32.56 a month (first month $25.99).
  • The membership page advertised 10% off Kling 4.0 generations for Pro and above, as a launch offer. Standard showed a dash in the Kling 4.0 row.
  • Kling 4.0 generation pricing only shows after sign-in, so Voyager couldn’t give a credit price per second for 4.0.

(Voyager, 20 Oct 2026) Kling changes plans often, and these numbers may have moved since.

What we know about Kling 4.0 access

  • Kling 4.0 officially launched on 15 October 2026, after early access from 30 September. (Kuaishou release)
  • Early access to the faster Kling 4.0 Flash was for Ultra Yearly subscribers, so the first access was paid. (Kling blog)
  • When we read Kling’s pages on 22 October, 4K output, 2-minute extension and the API were still listed as “coming soon”. For the full feature list, see Kling 4.0 is out.

How Kling credits work

From Kling’s Credits Policy, read 28 October 2026:

  • Standard price to buy credits: $1 = 66 credits.
  • Plan credits arrive monthly and are valid for 1 month. Credits you buy are valid for 2 years.
  • Credits are deducted when you generate, and refunded if the generation fails.
  • Subscribers can claim daily login credits during events. Amounts are set by Kling.
  • Promotional credits follow the rules shown on each promotion.

Before you pay: a short checklist

  1. Sign in first and read the quote. Set the length, resolution and references for a Kling 4.0 clip and look at the credit cost before you generate.
  2. Check the plan table for a “Kling 4.0” line. A plan that doesn’t list it may not include it.
  3. Check the watermark and commercial-use rules for the plan you’re on, if the clip is for a channel or a client.
  4. Count attempts. Clips you reject are still charged when the generation succeeds.
  5. Don’t buy credit packs to replace a plan. Per the Credits Policy, bought credits don’t unlock the premium-only functions.

Other ways to try AI video without paying

We haven’t tested these, and their free limits can change. What we checked, and what we’ll test

On 28 October 2026 we read Kling’s pricing FAQ page and Credits Policy, and tried the membership page (unreadable without JavaScript). We haven’t generated anything. Our plan: sign up for a free account, record exactly what the free plan offers for Kling 4.0, and update this page with the date.

FAQ

Is Kling 4.0 free?

Unconfirmed. Kling has a free plan with limits, but its public pages don’t say whether Kling 4.0 is included.

Does Kling add a watermark on the free plan?

Watermark removal is listed as a premium-only function, so free videos are expected to carry one. A third-party report says Basic adds a watermark.

How much does Kling cost?

A third-party report (20 Oct 2026) lists Standard at $8.80 a month and Pro at $32.56 a month, with discounted first months. We couldn’t read Kling’s plan page ourselves, so check it before you buy.

Do Kling credits expire?

Yes. Plan credits are valid for 1 month. Credits you buy are valid for 2 years.

Can I use Kling 4.0 videos on YouTube?

Check the terms for your plan first. A third-party report says the free plan doesn’t allow commercial use, and that paid-plan terms leave you responsible for portrait, copyright, trademark and AI-labelling rules.
