Key takeaway: Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance’s video model, launched on 31 July 2026. It makes 30-second clips in one pass, and Seedance 2.5 4K, announced this week, is a trial for selected enterprise customers only. Whether Seedance 2.5 is free is not confirmed: Dreamina’s free daily credits name Seedance 2.0, not 2.5. Kling 4.0 and Wan 3.0 make similar claims, but we haven’t tested any of the three.

  • What 4K adds: a 480p draft mode before a final 4K render, and 10-bit colour, per TechNode.
  • Cost (Dreamina’s figures): Basic is $0.29 for the first month for eligible new customers, then $15 a month, with 1,575 credits.
  • Compare: one row each for Kling 4.0 and Wan 3.0 below, maker-stated only. No winner.

Research-based news. We haven’t tested Seedance, Kling or Wan. Specs are what ByteDance Seed, Kuaishou and Alibaba say. Prices are Dreamina’s own, checked 27 October 2026.

What Seedance 2.5 adds over 2.0

ByteDance Seed’s launch post is dated 31 July 2026. Seed says Seedance 2.5:

  • makes 30-second audio-video clips in a single pass, up from 15 seconds, with multi-round extension for longer videos;
  • accepts up to 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio clips as references;
  • edits by timestamp, with green-screen, camera-perspective and reference-based editing, and supports “clay render” references (textureless 3D models);
  • is rolling out on Jimeng AI and Doubao Pro, with API access “coming soon” via BytePlus ModelArk.

Seed also says there’s “room for improvement” on the physical plausibility of complex motion and on scenes with several interacting subjects.

What Seedance 2.5 4K is

According to TechNode, ByteDance’s cloud platform Volcano Engine released Seedance 2.5 4K on 23 October, aimed at film and TV production. It supports 10-bit colour, and a Draft mode gives lower-cost 480p previews before a final 4K render. TechNode says it is “currently available for trials by selected enterprise customers”, and that some film and post-production companies have begun testing it. Two news reports dated 22 October (Beijing News and Sina Finance, both non-English) say the first batch went to about 20 studios and directors, tied to specific projects.

Sources differ on the exact day the trial began (22 or 23 October), so we say “this week”. We found no public price for 4K, and no date for general or API access.

Is Seedance 2.5 free?

Not confirmed. What we found on Dreamina, CapCut’s creative site (USD, vendor pages, checked 27 October 2026):

  • Dreamina lists Seedance 2.5 at 37 credits per second at 720p.
  • Basic costs $0.29 for the first month (offer from 21 October, for eligible customers who haven’t used an earlier first-month discount), then $15 a month, with 1,575 credits. Dreamina calls it “limited-time” and gives no end date. It says 30 seconds uses 1,110 credits.
  • By our arithmetic from Dreamina’s figures, 1,575 credits is about 42 seconds of 720p Seedance 2.5 a month. Retries and extra features use more credits.
  • Dreamina’s free-credits page names Seedance 2.0, not 2.5, for free accounts. An earlier three-day offer of four free Seedance 2.5 generations has ended, per Dreamina. Dreamina also lists credit and plan discounts from 27 October to 6 November, so the credit cost per second may change during that window.

Prices may differ by region and change. Treat “unlimited free Seedance 2.5” claims on social media as unverified.
